What people mean by "sale scheduler"
Tools in this space do one of two things. Some schedule a discount, which applies at checkout and leaves product prices alone. Others schedule a price change, which sets a new Price and Compare-at price at the start and restores the originals at the end. The second kind needs to record the original prices. That difference is the main thing to compare.

The options, one by one
Shopify automatic discount
Built in and free. You set a start and end date, and the discount stops applying at the end. It does not change the product's price, so nothing has to be reverted, and how the discounted price displays depends on your theme. Best when a checkout discount is enough.
Shopify Launchpad
Free. Its listing describes it as a scheduling tool for product visibility, Shopify Scripts, themes, discounts and more with a start and end time, and says it is only available to Shopify Plus customers. The listing does not describe scheduling product price changes or reverting them, so we cannot say more. If you are on Plus it is worth reading the listing.
Bulk edit or CSV
Free and built in, but you run the start and the end yourself. A Shopify Community post notes the risk that restoring an old file overwrites new variants created during the sale.
Shopify Flow
Can run on a schedule and call the Admin API to update variant prices, but the same Community post notes you need a second workflow to revert and somewhere to keep the original prices, because Flow does not remember them for you.
Mechanic
A workflow-automation app with a library of tasks, including "Advanced: Scheduled Price Changes". The task's documentation says it stores original prices in variant metafields and restores the prices and compare-at prices when the event ends. It also says saving the task does not schedule the event: you run it and enter the keyword "schedule", and variants already in an ongoing event are not changed by a new one. The listing shows plans from $16 a month (Basic Shopify) to $199 a month (Shopify Plus), each with a 15-day free trial, and a 5.0 rating from 148 reviews. It is a general automation platform, so expect more setup than a dedicated scheduler.
GetSale Bulk Discounts & Sales
A dedicated sale app. Its listing says it schedules start and end times, changes catalogue prices and restores the original prices automatically, and also offers quantity breaks, countdown timers and banners. Listed pricing: Free (up to 75 variants, 3 campaigns), $9.99 a month (500 variants, 10 campaigns), $19.99 a month (1,500 variants, 30 campaigns), $29.99 a month (unlimited). It shows 4.9 from 334 reviews and the Built for Shopify badge. It has more features than SalePilot and a long review history.
Bulk Discounts Price Editor (Aperitive)
Another dedicated scheduler. The listing describes scheduled sales with automatic start and end times and price rollback, plus BOGO offers, sale badges and countdown timers. It is free to install with the first 15 variant updates included, then $12.99 to $39.99 a month depending on Shopify plan, with 4.3 from 30 reviews.
SalePilot
Focused on one job: schedule a sale, apply it, and put prices back with a record of what changed. It records each variant's original price and compare-at price before changing anything, restores them at the scheduled end on the server (usually within about a minute), leaves any price you edited by hand alone, and gives a revert report with Was, Now and Status for every variant, plus a one-click Panic revert. Plans: Free, with 1 applied sale event per calendar month, and Pro at $9.99 a month (7-day free trial) with unlimited applied sale events. It works on any Shopify plan.
Where SalePilot is not the best fit
- It is new. At the time of writing it has no reviews yet on the Shopify App Store and does not carry the Built for Shopify badge, while GetSale has both a long review history and the badge.
- Its rules are percentage-off. You can target a collection, specific products or specific variants. There are no fixed-amount or fixed-price rules. It also has one quantity-break rule type, tied to a collection, which runs as a native Shopify automatic discount rather than a price change.
- The Free plan is one applied sale event a month. A stack of overlapping campaigns on Free will hit that limit.
- Other apps use similar names. Several apps on the Shopify App Store have "SalePilot" in their names. The one described here is at apps.shopify.com/salepilot.
How to choose
- A checkout discount is enough: use the built-in automatic discount with an end date.
- You are already building automations in Shopify: look at Mechanic.
- You want a wide feature set, timers and a track record: look at GetSale.
- You want a small tool that does schedule, apply, revert and prove it went back: try SalePilot on the Free plan with a single sale.

Does Shopify have a built-in sale scheduler?
Shopify can schedule a discount with a start and end date, which applies at checkout. As far as we can find it has no built-in way to schedule a change to product prices and revert it automatically; that takes a workflow, an automation app or a scheduler app.
Is there a free way to schedule a sale and revert prices?
